A fast (ish) group meets at the Stourport Sports Club at 09:00 for a 2 hour ride at approx 17 - 18mph.
After Christmas this training ride alternates between a 2 hour road ride and the following week a morning on the Stourport circuit.
Please check on the forum to see who is out, or if you want to join the ride post a message to check people are planning to be there, particularly if the weather is poor.

Does anyone fancy riding tomorrow morning? Meet 8:30am outside the SSC club house for a couple of hours steady riding (Aprox 17mph) to put in some good winter mileage. Post a message here or drop me a text.

If people want to meet at 9 they can - I'm just letting everyone know I'm going out at 8:30 (need to be home prompt) and they're welcome to come along earlier if they like. But by the look of things ill be putting the hard yards in on my own anyway! Also: correct me if im wrong, but I didn't think we ever meet at 9am on a Saturday? People always need to be home for family commitments etc. Maybe playing it by ear on the forum is a better idea until everyone is out more regularly in the coming season?

Have a good ride Jack, I 'm hoping to go out a tad later for a solo ride. Darbs posted the 9.00am thing by the way, but it would be nice if you get some company this Saturday at 8.30. See you Sunday or Monday perhaps.

The reason for aiming for an 09:00 start was so it is consistent when we start alternating one week on the road and one week on the track.
Last year we started alternating after Christmas, but we can't get on the track before 09:00. So one week we were meeting at 08:30, then the next week at 09:00 waiting for the track to open. This caused some potential new members to turn up at 08:30 on a track week, think that nobody was out and they went home.
It may be easier to alternate and arrange the times now that the forum is running, or we could just aim for 09:00 every week at the sports club.
We also need a little more structure to the Saturday track sessions. The road sessions were a good hard training ride, the track sessions became riding round having a chat, the odd fast lap, then a coffee and cake at the club! (I am not complaining about coffee and cake, but it didn't make us any faster!)

Re track training sessions. There is some work in progress here being done behind the scenes by Nick (Yarworth) who is lokking to get coached sessions running after Christmas, in the new year. Aim is to have some Saturday am ones plus a regular Wednesday night chain gang also on the track. I am liasing with Nick on these and as soon as something concrete comes up will post the details; obviously the intention is to try and link the timing, at least on the Saturday, with what already happens. In my mind (a strange place) we would do alternate Sats as current and advertise these and the Wed nights on the website etc. The club will pay for the cost of these for members, a benefit of being in Wyre Forest, but non members, to which they will be open, will pay a small fee.

I can't do the ride unless engines are allowed, but I may pop over to say hi before you leave. I will arrive at or just before 9.00 this time though instead of last weekend, I learned that lesson fast, the early cyclist catches hyperthermia
