As some of you will be aware under the changes of the British Cycling delivery program we are looking to deliver sessions concentrating on (but not exclusive to) the 14-25 age group, especially the junior & U.23 categories, in addition we are also looking at the promotion and growth of female specific and disability sessions. The first of these sessions will start as a 6 week block at Stourport Sports Club closed road circuit on Thursday 11th July and continue through to and including 15th August. The focus of the sessions will be to develop riders physical and technical capacity and for this block there will be no upper age restriction. The plan is to run from 6-7pm for Under 16s then from 7-9pm for junior and senior riders. Sessions for the U.16s will be based on ability, it would be good to build on the delivery already going on in the clubs, due to the nature of the circuit we may be able to run sessions for more than one group. This will also depend on the number of coaches we have available. These will very much be on the bike sessions, there will be a structured warm up followed by some road specific skills then into group riding, the tempo will be increased to push the performance level. I hope to use the final 50-60 mins as a chain-gang incorporating the skills highlighted earlier in the session. If riders are dropped from the group they will be able to use the cut-through to regain contact or take a lap out. Craig Ansell will be the lead coach for the session, Nick Yarworth will support for some of the weeks but will be looking for additional coaches to assist and if possible continue these sessions beyond the programmed 6 weeks. The cost of the session will be £2 for U 16s, £4 for over 16s, Wyre Forest CRC members (1st claim) will be free of charge, so lets have plenty of club members taking advantage, inc the 'Southern div'.
Max numbers for each session will be 40, riders can book on by contacting Craig Ansell or simply sign on the night, first come first served. Sign on will be by the club house 10mins before the start of each session.

Tell me Richard, how did to learn to descend like that, amazing!!! Track racing Tuesday, TT Wednesday, Richard killing me Thursday, I just can't take this week in week out Yes a good night and a work out at the end, aout 20 riders turned out in the end. Jack Coombe ended up being the troublesome school boy answering the coaches back and even cutting up ladies out of the corners. I had to put him in a headlock to control him at one point. She did give you some earache Jack, haha. Some handling skills and through & off, then onto the chain gang ramping it up at the end. I have to say the younger riders really know how to go with no fear at all. Good to see a good group of ladies forming, looks like they all enjoyed themselves and rode well so if any other female riders thought it would just lads ripping around then you are missng out! We will be there next week, well maybe if Richard does not turn up again

Well you do owe me one Richard. I filled in that small gap you left after the hairpin turn and slowed it to help my fellow member (MD - Mega Descender) back into the line. Then I suffered the wrath of Craig shouting at me to close the gap I had in front of me Where's the justice in being a gentleman Haha LOL

I wasn't answering back I was just questioning why they were telling us to do through and off in completely the wrong direction in relation to where the wind was blowing!!
And as for cutting someone up, she braked hard at the apex of the corner due to her piss poor line and general lack of bike handing. I had no where else to go otherwise we'd have been on the deck!!
Needless to say I won't be attending again!

Glad to hear there was a good take up and WFCRC members are taking advantage of their membership benefits. I am a bit too poorly to come down at present to watch/help out but I guess there is and will be a wide variance in ability, including bike handling. Jack, with your racing experience you could add to the sessions by encouraging the lesser mortals and hope you will be back to other sessions. Maybe the through and off was not right at some points on the circuit due to wind direction but in my experience just getting riders to change smoothly in only 1 direction is a challenge. Perhaps when the groups improve their skills over the weeks then you could ask the coaches to show others how constant wind change direction needs constant change direction. Hope to see everyone soon. Please encourage the ladies in their efforts.

Don't worry David, it seems that Jack got out of bed a little grumpy this morning (his words, not mine). I'm sure he will be back for some more treatment??? Jack, you need to get out of that pool mate and back on the saddle. Hope you don't pee in that paddling pool haha.

Jack, I hope you will be coming again, some of the less experienced and younger riders can learn a lot from your skills and experience, and these sessions are perfect for improving these riders levels of ability I'm only to happy to pass on my descending skills at anybody who will listen
