Been holding up against the other clubs on my own this week as Dave M is on his Hols on a diet of Chips and Guinness!!! Next week there is;
Tuesday St.Johns CC - Madge Hill 5 miler starting at 18.45
Thursday is VC Sevale - Hanley Swan 5.5 miler starting at 18.00 they are also targeting novices here so good if you have never done a TT before.
Be nice to see some more of the mighty WfCRC riders mixing it up with the local clubs???
Lets get stuck into them chaps, can only make us faster for next year if you are out next week let us know.

Is the Madge Hill TT a 5 mile circuit or long hill climb?

Looking at it I tink it starts at the top of the Kinnersley final shot dig by the layby with the large tree? Then down the hill, along the side of the M5 into Kempsey and back a little way towards Severn stoke on the A38. I have just read on the St.Johns site no TT aerobars, no aero helmets and wheels have to have at least 12 spokes!!! Jump on the road bike I suppose, was looking foward to having a go at that on the speed machine

Great fun last night at the St.Johns K46/5 Madge Hill. Gary Jones turned up at my place not reading the forum about non TT gear event, arrived with his TT bike in the boot. Well with a frantic 15 mins I managed to scrap together a Alimunium Boardman that fitted just right. We loaned it off a relative for Lucy to try but was too big, it has been in the shed untouched for 6 months. Tape measure out, seat hieght adjusted, Punchued front was changed for a carbon deep rim with tub on. No clip on pedals, a pair of trainers and pedal hooks to put your feet in. Gazza was ready to roll. It was a very busy 15 mins to say the least but added to the night. We rode over to the TT which is about 6 miles, nice steady warm up. Gary getting used to the new speed machine. As we get closer coming up the hill towards Madge hill we hear the familiar sound of a rear disc wheel but just look at one another and shrug it off??? Get to the assembly point and I have never seen such a Arsenal of TT gear, it was everywhere. We were told that it is only the first event of the year for no TT gear and anything goes tonight. Bloody brilliant, the WF lads with road kit. He started joking that we had been stitched up and it was the only way they could beat the mighty Wyre Forest, lol. Anyway we rode it on our road bikes which certainly seems to inflict a lot more pain than on the TT bike. Times were Out of 51 runners. Dave Meacham 17th 11mins41secs Justin Walters 19th 11mins50secs Gary Jones 23rd 12mins03secs I have to take my hat off to Gary, WFspeedsuit, pair of trainers and a bike he had rode for 30mins. Fantastic time mate and I think we put a bit of that TT gear to bed in the process

A 5 mile TT sounds interesting to me but I have questions. What is the time gap at start? Does anyone own a rope long enough to cover the start gap? Can I guarantee to start behind Justin or DaveM? Would either of them mind me attaching the afore mentioned rope to their seat post? Do you think anyone would notice what was happening at the time? Ok messing around over now.

Well we were a little gutted Andy, myself and Dave pride ourselves with trying to beat as many St.Johns riders as possible. But it turned out to be a very funny night With regards to me and Dave pulling you around. Not a problem but I would get yourself a Grifter as a road bike just won't take the power Anyway Andy, a 5 miler tomorrow night. Do you the world of good and there will be plenty of newcomers. And the best thing of all you don't have to worry about your Heart rate, the higher the better. So long a that little puppy keeps beating, you just PLF!!! We are all TT virgins once, myself most recently. Come and have a go, its highly additive, you are racing yourself so does not matter what anyone else is doing and I guarantee it will be the best work out you have ever had pushing yourself to the extreme. Yes, its certainly hurts a bit depending how deep you dig but most of all it is one hell of a rush after you finished. Come and try, nothing to lose, a really good workout and a great evening with some good company

I asked one of the Sevale guys last night what time the start was, he said 1845 with the slower riders going off first. Weather looks really good

Right then...
Check list:
Raleigh Grifter, (looking on ebay right now, maybe a commando will suffice they are very strong too) Tow rope, (must first establish how far Justin and DaveM can ride in 1 minute from standing start)
I'll give you a reasonable promise, I will enter an official timed 5 mile TT when I know I can complete it in under 15 mins, so we are looking at next season.

I'm out and about tomorrow with work, but will swing by if I'm back in Malvern by end of day.
Have a ridiculous urge to ride, but Tracey would ready the divorce papers if I did this after barely being able to move last week and still wincing when I walk (cycling less painful than walking, but I will deny how I know this if asked in court of law - sneaky soft pedal test run today)
