Nick Yarworth (BC) has suggested getting a chain gang (coached) going on the track, say Tuesday evenings using bike lights until the floodlighting is done. Probably from Christmas time but he will get back to me when we know the level of interest from members and whether Tuesdays is the most popular evening. Obviously such sessions, approx 1 hour, will be weather dependant, ie the track must be free of any snow and ice! Who would be up for this?

For the last couple of winters an increasing number of riders meet up for a fast paced 'chaingang' style training bash on Tuesday and Thursday nights, normally running from the start of Jan through to late Feb/early March. A few members had mentioned running these rides again in the new year, meeting at the car park for the playing fields on Habberley Road, Kidderminster (just up the road from Kidderminster police station). The general feeling was that SSC is very dark and doesn't get gritted in comparison to the street lit road route that is currently used, thus potentially making it a good idea to continue using this route for the time being until floodlighting has been put in place at SSC. But obviously nothing is set in stone. The allure of a properly BC coached session would certainly make testing out the track(pre-floodlights) in the dark worth a try! Though for the sake of playing devils advocate and not wanting to sound too negative; I'm not sure how well this would work in the pitch black with only a few handlebar mounted lights? But as I said, defiantly worth a try. If the worst comes to the worst we have to wait for flood lighting to be in place and then we can build on a proper structure in the coming months and years. Meeting times TBC and more details will be put on the forum and the WFCRC website at a later date. All suggestions and constructive criticism welcome as ever. I'll stop waffling on now

Had an update from Nick re coached training sessions at Stourport. Probably 2 BC coaches will run these, Wednesday nights, starting after Christmas. Open to all comers, fee based, but nil charge to WFCRC members. Note that annual subs become due 1st January and that a new check in will be put in place by SSC so to use the circuit (at these or other times) to get in free you will need to show your club membership card. The dark should not be too bad as there will be some spill over lighting on evenings where the neighbouring pitches are being floodlit. When the circuit lights do go in there will also be an improved pedestrian access over to the start/finish area ready for the racing season.

Any updates on the coached training Dave? If not, is anyone else interested in getting the Tuesday and Thursday training rides going? A little early I know but we don't have to go too crazy to start with and build things up over the coming weeks. I'm quite happy with the same arrangements as last year. Starting just after 7pm at the car park on Habberly Road, just up from Kidderminster police station. Any objections, ideas, thoughts or just general verbal abuse welcome

I won't be able to make it on Tuesday nights for the next few weeks but will hopefully be out on Thursdays. I believe a few others were planning to ride this Tuesday though if this helps? Have a good one

Just had the email update from Nick and the training nights at Stourport circuit will start on Wednesday 16th January. Initially these will be for Youth riders and it's hoped to expand them to Seniors a little later. Seniors can go along but you will be under the instructions of the coaches there. No charge for paid up WFCRC members but take your 2013 membership card along otherwise you will be asked to pay £2. When the floodlighting is all done, possibly by March, then we are looking at year round training sessions being available. The Wed nights will be subject to change to avoid clashes with other evening stuff, such as our summer club TT events.

Just letting everyone know that we still meet at the Habberley Road car park at 7pm on Thursdays. Would be great to see a few more people out Also: I'd quite like to get the same sort of thing going on Tuesday nights too, if people are willing? Would be great to carry this over to when the nights get lighter and we can go further afield!
