A good day was had by all (well almost all!).
Everyone arrived on time and in good spirits, shoes duly collected, changed into our kit then into the velodrome. The experienced guys got straight onto the track, while the first time trackies had an instructional talk from our BC coach.
We then had a few laps free circulating, a 25 lap race and a flying lap time trail. All good fun. However it was during the flying lap time trial that Justin decided things needed to be spiced up a bit so entertained the crowd with a spectacular ground, sky, ground, sky, ground crescendo as he crossed the line at warp factor 9! (welll it was more like, timber, ceiling, timber, ceiling, then a 30 metre slide leaving plenty of his DNA on the boards of the velodrome)
After we had confirmed he was still alive, there then started plenty of very sympathetic support and care from his fellow club mates...not!
A bite to eat on the way home (with Justin sitting in Frankie and Bennys having bags of ice stuffed into his clothing), lots more very sympathetic support and care from his fellow club mates, we all headed home.
Great fun, plenty of banter, met some great new people (who are now definitely, 100%, guaranteed going to join the club...aren't you?) and a good day had by (almost) all.
I will definitely arrange another trip for the club in the future.
(There were lots of people taking photos, it would be great if we could have them for the club website gallery, I will also see if I can add them to the video to get something onto YouTube, please contact me if you have photos)
