Trying to find mention of the Thursday session you mentioned when I enquired about my son who only has a mountain bike at present but is itching to get stronger and faster. I can't see him keeping up with the older lads as he's only 10. Membership secretary says the track is booked for other coaching on Thursday eve. Two differing stories, which is correct?

Hi Ian
The plan is that the Friday evenings are for youths and younger riders, something which we have had many requests for and wanted to run for a long time, thanks to Richard we can now offer that under floodlights.
The Thursday evening training will start on 2nd October and will be a session for senior (18+) and junior (16 to 18) riders who are British Cycling members run by British Cycling coaches as a training session for those that aim at racing. WFCRC members will get this free as part of their membership, there will be a small cost to non-WFCRC members. (More info will follow on this shortly).
For your son the ideal sessions sound like Richards Go-ride Friday evenings that take place from April to August, as there is a wide range of ages and abilities. However, having said that, I would definitely come down on one of Richards September sessions and see how it goes. Over the years I have seen many kids turn up on all sorts of bikes thinking that they weren't strong enough, and ridden off the front!
Just give it a go, certainly the way to get faster and stronger is to ride with faster and stronger riders!
