Paul Gibson and myself are organising an evening of men’s and women’s racing to launch the new floodlights at the Stourport Circuit, on Saturday 20th September 2014.
The circuit now has permanent floodlights installed and operating, so we wanted to run an event as a formal opening ceremony! It is supported by British Cycling and Stourport Sports Club. The races will include a 3/4 cat women’s race at 19:00, a 4th cat men’s at 20:15 and 3/4 cat men’s race at 21:15. There will be an official ‘switch-on’ opening ceremony at 20:00.
Its also a great opportunity for some late season BC points.
We really need some support from club members for us to run the event.
We are using electronic chip timing and external first aid cover, so that removes some pressure from volunteers but we still need help with marshals, signing on and general support.
The bar/café adjacent to the circuit in the sports club will be open for friends and family who may want to come along.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, please reply here if you can help or contact me directly at paul@peopleton.net or Paul Gibson at paulthepainter23@msn.com
Regards
Paul Darby

It is with great frustration that we have been forced to cancel the Stourport Nocturne Floodlit Racing event at Stourport circuit on Saturday 20th September.
This is completely out of the control of Wyre Forest CRC and Stourport Sports Club. The cancelation relates to the lighting levels, insurance and British Cycling permits for floodlit race events on the newly illuminated circuit.
It should be noted that we had planned and organised the event with the full support and involvement of British Cycling from the very beginning.
We will put more races on in the near future, but not under the floodlights.
Thanks to everyone who offered their help, it is appreciated.
