Some members have asked about this event which is coming up in a couple of weeks time on 13th September. It's the last Grande Trophee event of the year, based in Abbeville and about an hour and a half drive from Calais. It is known as the fastest sportive on the continent and having ridden it 3 times it really is close to full race speed, especially early on. The full field start en masse on closed roads to begin with and after the main feed station you soon reach the split for the Masters, 187km; or the Senior, 120km. I did the Senior first time and got round in Gold Standard, then did the Masters and had a Bronze and the year after a Silver. It doesn't matter which you enter as you can change on the day when you reach the split.
It's a great experience and you can either make your own arrangements on travel, or book through stuarthallcycling - he is offering a full package or a self catering option. Latest time to enter is the day before in Abbeville itself in the start area, from about 13.00hrs. There are plenty of cyclists about then so you can easily find the signing on. Have a look on the websites for more info.
