If any members of the club have the feeling that they may, in the future be interested in helping the club run events on the circuit at SSC, these may be of interest. I may attend if I am not working overseas.
Road & Circuit Race Workshops
- British Cycling announcment
As part of British Cyclings on-going support to the events, organisers and volunteers in the region our Regional Competitions Administrator, Carl Robinson, and Regional Events Officer, Keith Evans shall be hosting a couple of Road & Circuit Race Workshops. The first of these shall be on Wednesday 26th November 2014, with the second one on Thursday 5th February 2015.
By splitting the workshop across two evenings we can align the content more specifically with the calendar and the elements of event planning activity happening around those times; the first will cover essential elements of event organising and the second workshop with it being just prior to season start will also act as a good point to refresh and cover any last questions or queries in advance of your events.
Starting at 7.30pm the workshops will be an opportunity for a refresh, feedback, update and discussion on key event organisation topics. The structure of the evening is not finalised but an idea of likely format is as follows:
• Workshop 1
‒ Planning
‒ Registration
‒ Risk assessment
‒ Traffic management
‒ Volunteers
• Workshop 2
‒ Review of event plans
‒ Dealing with any problems and queries since workshop 1
‒ Event paperwork
‒ Any other business
The workshops are open to new and existing event organisers alike as well as any of the commissaires active in the region. They will be an excellent forum to share ideas and stimulate new ones in order to work together towards the overall progression, development and continuous improvement of the West Midlands events calendar.
The workshops are free to attend and will only be for a couple of hours each. We have scheduled them midweek to avoid eating into your weekend. There will also be refreshments (tea & coffee) provided.
The venue for both events will be the Tally Ho Conference & Banqueting Centre, Pershore Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B5 7RN.
We would welcome your attendance and contribution to the workshop and by all means feel free to share these details with anyone else that you know who may wish to attend.
Please confirm to keithevans@britishcycling.org.uk that you will be attending in order that we can make sure we have enough room space and more importantly enough coffee!
Any further queries then please do not hesitate get in touch.
