Can WFCRC get a women’s team together for the Midlands Women’s Time Trial Series? This year the organisers will include a team award (if enough enter) along with the other categories – Fastest, Best Improvement, Vets (over 40’s) and Novices. There are 7 events in the series and 3 are for novices so if you haven’t time trialled before you won’t be on your own. You don’t have to do all 7 events only your best 3 event results count. So far 2 teams have entered the series and it would be great to have WFCRC in the list. Last year we had 2 women in the series so we only need one more to join us to qualify as a team however the more of you that enter the better the chance of winning. I will definitely be entering the series again and I hope some of you will join me. WFCRC have a large number of women members so please lets where our club jerseys (or skinsuits) and compete. mwtts.org.uk/

Hi Lucy. I raced in this series last year and am interested in joining Wyre Forest Cycling Club. Are there training sessions at the track still? Karen

Hi Karen,
It would be great to have another rider join me this year in the Midlands Series and hopefully on other TT events too!
Currently we have British Cycling coaching sessions being held on Thursday evenings which you can attend if you are a member of British Cycling and are free to WFCRC members. There are no women's only sessions planned at present however I will circulate a message when the weather warms up to try and tempt the 'social riders' and other women racers into a spot of training. These sessions will unfortunately only go ahead if we can generate enough interest.
Don't forget that our club TT's are held on Wednesdays and start on 8th April. There are a number of club awards for these events and also they are great for midweek training.
I hope to race with you soon.
Lucy

Hi Lucy
I would like to ride this series but sadly it clashes almost perfectly with my track commitments, however I could just manage three - which to be fair is a bit tight, because should anything go wrong on any one of these dates and I guess my rides would not count, but for now my question is, can I ride for WFCRC as a second claim member?
Hope to see you soon. Jan

Hi Jan,
I have been in contact with the organiser and she has confirmed that you can enter the series under any club you want as long it is the only club you enter all CTT events (open or club) however you are allowed one club change.
It would be fantastic if you could manage to join the series and compete in 3 of the events.
WFCRC Women's Team - I think that will be the first time ever.

Hi Lucy
I don't think TORQ will mind me riding the TT's as WFCRC as it is not my main focus, so that is sorted then. There are only three events I can make and one of those is the day after the National 10, so I have to hope I stay healthy and injury free, but given those I will ride: 13/6, 9/8 and 6/9.
See you soon. Jan

Thanks David, it's still all to play for because my points (which are some way off Super Fast Lucy's!) are based on just two rides, so any points I can get in the final round of this series will count towards our totals. I'm making my excuses early though, the National 10 is the day before the last race!

I was really happy to attend the awards evening for the Midlands Women's Time Trial Series on Saturday and collect the trophy for the 1st Team Prize of the series. This wasn't the only award I collected because I finished 3rd overall in the Yellow Jersey category and Jan Birkmyre finished 2nd in the Green Jersey category. These are great results for the club and I hope next year we will achieve better results and retain the team trophy. Thanks to Jan Birkmyre and Karen Riley for a great season and we would gladly welcome a few more ladies to join us next year. (Jan and Karen - I have your prizes so I will arrange to get them to you.)

Great results all round and particularly well done to Lucy for third overall.
I really hope we can get a team together to defend in 2016.
If you are thinking of giving time trialing a go, this is a really friendly series and the courses chosen were about as safe as you could ever hope for.

And I'm sorry to say I have only just seen this response from Paul. I laughed mightily when I read it, so thank you for that and it is good to know I am part of a club that is bursting with so much talent on the excuse front - no wonder I have felt so at home so quickly!!
