The club annual hilly 15ml TT is on Wed 22nd July this year. Normal format, car parking in the field at Cross Bank Farm, ride 1 ml to the start point on the Clows Top rd, batter yourself silly round the course, return to our place to find the food and drink underway, BBQ cooking various stuff, yummy! Get changed into whatever, have a dip in the swimming pool if weather is good, join in the social and chit chat, explaining to everyone why you were sick at both the climb to Clows Top and AGAIN coming up Hurtle Hill!
Event starts at 7.00pm as usual, if you can bring some food and drink that will be great but no worries if you can't, family members welcome inc kids who can also use the pool (but must not drown themselves).
Housekeeping notes: We may still have sheep in the field so close the gate after driving in/out. Follow the track round and park at the top of the field close to and facing the stone garden wall if possible. It is best to bring your bike through the garden so you can use the driveway to exit and return rather than trying to ride across the field. If the weather is a bit naff then we'll have the social bit inside. As previous years I will try and get the course signed but here are the route details;
From the farm driveway turn right and go up to the A456 by the Foresters pub. Turn left and in 3/4 ml the START is in the dip pretty well opposite the lane for Pound Bank. Continue straight to Clows Top, nasty 14% climb, TURN LEFT at the X rds and go screaming down towards Abberley, great fun. Climb again through the village to TURN LEFT WITH CARE on joining the A443, shoot down the hill and TURN LEFT just after the Hundred House going towards Stourport, now on the A451. It's pretty fast to Dunley, where you pass the garage on your left and TURN LEFT onto the lane for home. However....in 1/2 ml there is a surprisingly stiff little climb up through the sandstone cutting which pretty well buggers you up for Hurtle Hill, 15% and 1km up, then continue in a now shocking state to Heightington and Bliss Gate, the road bears right there, and the FINISH is on the left 3/4 ml later at the lay by outside the bungalows, and 100 yds before the driveway to Cross Bank Farm. Enjoy. HQ OS ref: SO 747 737
