Hi All, I have finally purchased a road bike after many years of putting it off. I would like to become an active member of the club, and thought i would introduce myself.
My real name is Tim. I am in my late twentys. I Live in Stourport and have lived in the local area for several years, before that I lived near Hereford. I use to row for both Hereford RC and Stourport Boat Club but a few years ago gave up rowing as my wife and i were expecting our first child. Our child is now 18 months old and i need to get active again and always been into my cycling i took the plunge and have purchased my first road bike a 'Giant Defy 2'. I already own a MTB and have on and off over the years done my fair share of Mountain biking having spent alot of my year in the forest of dean where we had trails all over.
I hope to within in a few weeks after a few sessions on my own be in a position where i can attend the club rides at weekends and possible some of the evening sessions.

Went out for my first ride this weekend. Rather chuffed with myself as the first part of the ride was the "stourport climb" A4025 up to the A449 Mitre Oak which i completed without stopping. I thought this was good considering i have never ridden a road bike before this weekend, and i haven't been on a bike in over 12months! I went on to do just over 10miles and could have happily done that distance again i think, but i think its best to build the distance up gradually....
Really eager to meet the club members so what regular activities are going on? Do we regularly use the circuit track as the times on the website are from 2014....

Hi Tim. well done, that's a great start. The track time on the website is correct, its just the heading on the calendar hasn't updated. We have the circuit for club members use on Thursday evenings from 19:00 to 21:00 and Saturday mornings from 09:00 to 11:00.
There is generally a club run from Stourport Sports Club on Sundays at 09:30, during the summer with holidays and racing its not certain how many people will show up, but drop a note on the forum or just turn up and see who's there. (It often takes someone to get the ball rolling!)

Sunday club runs: 09.30 from the club (SSC) the main ride is generally 40 to 50 mls with a good coffee and cake stop inc, back around lunch time. Consists of a mix of WFCRC members and unattached or other cycle club riders. If I'm there then I will usually lead the ride, otherwise the route is by consensus. There may be a B group for newcomers with a more gentle pace and distance but that depends on who turns up; if you take the main ride and it seems a tad far too start with then plan to turn off for home early on - ask if anyone else is up for that option when we meet at 9.30, this is what quite a few returning to, or starting in cycling, have done as they ease themselves back in to fitness. You also get a chance to meet everyone and get some 'social' time in a group which is much nicer than always riding on your own.
Hope to see you one of the Sundays soon.

Thanks to those who were at the Track yesterday for making me feel welcome. I only went to say hi but ending up riding going around the track for an hour before having to shoot off home, however i wish i could have stayed longer. If i'm not doing the mad hatter this weekend then i will be back down there on Saturday for the whole duration.

Thanks all for tonight's session and again making me feel a part of the club, to which i am still very new.... As some have you have noticed i havent been down the track for almost two weeks. This is because on Sunday just gone i ran a 10km assault course called the The Wolf Run therefore i needed to rest up before and after the event. Below is a Video giving you an idea of the kind of obstacles which this run involved. I Plan to do all 4 Wolf Runs next year! It was tough but the most fun i have had in a while. Also as promised i have also included a few images of me and my 'wolf pack' (our team which was made up of all family members) at the event.
