We have a lot going on at the moment so I thought it was worth summarising it!
Thursday Evenings – British Cycling Coaching
The Thursday night British Cycling coaching training takes place at Stourport Cycle Circuit from Thursday 6th October. The sessions will run from 6th October for 11 weeks until December 15th, then after the Christmas break will start again on January 5th 2017 and run for a further 8 weeks until February 23rd 2017.
The session will run from 19:00 till 21:00, riders will need to be signed on and ready to ride for 19:00, all under 18’s will need a rider consent form each week.
To take part all riders must be first claim members of a Go-Ride club and be a member of British Cycling, this includes all Wyre Forest CRC riders (we are a Go-Ride club).
The cost is £3 per session. The coaching is free to Wyre Forest CRC first claim members on production of their 2016 or 2017 membership card.
These coaching sessions are for riders who race or who are getting ready to race. They will be very physical with some technical content. Riders need to have a good level of ability and stamina as these sessions are hard training. Riders must be 12 years and over. Bikes must comply with British Cycling road racing rules, which essentially means road bikes with road tyres and no disc brakes. These sessions are not for Novice/ Beginner riders, they are aimed at riders who are experienced and comfortable riding in a group at speed, close to other riders wheels in a chain-gang formation
Friday Evenings – Senior Coaching
These senior (age 16+) coaching sessions take place at Stourport Cycle Circuit on a Friday between 20:00 and 21:00. They are run by our own coaches in a relaxed environment and are aimed at riders who want to improve their riding, bike handling and experience. There is a range of abilities that are split into groups if necessary, nobody is left out. The long term aim of these coaching sessions are to gain the necessary experience and skills to enable you to move on to the Thursday evening sessions if you wish!
Friday Evenings – Youth Coaching
The very popular youth coaching runs every Friday through the year from 19:00 to 20:00. There is a wide range of abilities and ages, with groups catering for novice youth riders, right up to those racing at regional level. Riders please arrive at 6-45pm for signing on so that the session can start at 7pm prompt!
Friday Evenings – Young Rider Coaching
The youngest riders are coached on Friday evenings at Stourport Cycle Circuit from 18:00 to 19:00 from the end of March until late October. The exact dates can be found on the club forum and website. These sessions are open to the very youngest members, with no lower age limit, they just need to be able to ride without stabilisers. These coaching sessions are fun and focus on bike control and games to increase bike handling skills and encourage participation. They are structured to allow our youngest riders to gain the skills to move on to the youth coaching sessions.
Saturday Morning Sessions
If there is a desire within the club, a Saturday morning chain-gang type training session could be established as we have circuit time available from 09:00 to 11:00. If riders are interested in this please post on the club forum and we will aim to start them off.
