What a tremendously successful weekend of racing!
When we started planning for the weekend of 1st and 2nd July 2017, we were very cautious about deciding to host our biggest round of the Regional Youth Races on Saturday, followed by a round of the Midlands 2/3/4 Open Road Race League on Sunday.
However, thanks to the fantastic organisation from Richard Pederson for the youth races and Mike Haddon for the road race, both events ran perfectly. Also huge thanks to all of the club members who gave up some of their time to assist and ensure the events ran smoothly. It’s vital that people like Richard and Mike are willing to put in the effort to organising, and that all cyclists help support events. Its only through people helping and committing a small amount of time that we have any cycling events to be able to enjoy.
We put a lot of effort into being a true cycling club, gaining British Cycling Go-Ride and Clubmark status, being open to all types of cyclists and offering as much as we possibly can for our members. It’s great to see that rewarded on a weekend where Wyre Forest CRC organised events that allowed almost 300 riders to race, with some tough racing and excellent performances.
The road race also raised £202.65 to go towards the #RideforJoe collection in memory of Joe Guy from Wolverhampton Wheelers, which will ultimately be donated to Midlands Air Ambulance.
Thanks again to Richard. Mike and everybody else (the list is too long to name everyone) who supported the best weekend of racing we have had for many, many years!
