Is anyone else from the club riding in the Two Counties Road Race on Sunday, or am I on my ownsome-lonesome?

Don't know, but perhaps you could finish on your ownsome lonesome, in front of the rest would be best. Good luck and have a successful race.

I have tried getting away on my ownsome on this course as the final climb really sorts everyone out, you have to be into the bottom of the climb at the front.
I decided with 12 miles to go I would break the elastic and give it 5 minutes flat out to see if I could get away and time trial to the finish. I gave it 5 minutes, everything I had, flat out, looked round and I had 80 riders on my back wheel!
The tactic does work though, last years winner did this and stayed away.

If I can haul myself out of bed early enough I might even be stood on the side of the course screaming abuse (encouragement!) at you on the main climb... ;D Will see if I can get there in time

Yes a bit of abuse would be good, I'm used to it now!
Jason said he was thinking of coming up to watch as well, give him a shout.

It was a lot faster than last year! It went crazy on the second lap, although that was partly my fault as I tried to get away on one of the small climbs, went hard for 3 minutes to see if I could break the elastic, looked around and 50 riders were on my wheel! I burnt some matches doing that.
I stayed with the lead group until the top of the final climb then paid for my earlier antics! Just didn't have the legs for the final 1km. Fairly pleased, stayed towards the front, there was a huge attrition rate on the second lap, not sure how many pulled out but there was a lot!
OK for an old wrinkly vet, it was won by a guy who turned 19 last week!

Good ride Darbs, are you sure it was faster than last year, you`re getting on a bit now. ;D Funny you should say that, I was thinking the same thing this morning! I am sure it was faster, particularly the 2nd lap, for 15 miles it was flat out, half the field disappeared! I was stood chatting to Some of the guys from our club at the end and there were still riders coming in. Yep, I am sure it was faster, me being a crumbling old crock who can't remember where he put his slippers has got absolutely nothing to do with it!

No, nothing soon. I have got the Banbury Star RR and Climb on Bikes RR in early June, but I need to find some more before that.
I am going to do the first 4 club TT's then swap to the track to try to get my 2nd cat.
I will also do a few more open TT's, we will have to do a 25 on the K33 at Evesham.
