Ah yes the mud Jack but today it was not sticking??? Every time they came flying past me without warning I was throwing the mud at them but it just would not stick! I think Paul has brought a garage load of Muc Off Nano spray he coats with jersey in before he comes out - Cheat. And more cheating telling me they wanted a breather so I slowed a little, then smoked me while I day dreamed. But I'm sure you know all of Paul's and Andy's tricks anyway? Paul even tried to take me on the 'fox hunt' on the bikes on the way home at Peopleton but I was having none of it. Great ride today chaps, really enjoyed it dispute the mud. That's a 150 mile in under 24hrs for me.

Those excuses sound like they came from a Formula1 racing driver. You did however, forget about the rubbing breaks, tight wheel bearings and the frame flex sapping power from the drive train. You can keep those extra excuses for next time

Let me assure you, you ain't seen nothing yet. There will be a time that you get out of the saddle to go for it on a climb, and I'll be holding onto your seat post!
Jason was also very good at saying he wasn't feeling great and not up for any hard riding, then on the first climb he would come screaming past and go flying over the top.
A win is a win. End of.

Mmmmmm, did not sleep well thinking about all these 'marginal gains' etc. But I got it covered for this morning, Axel Grease on my seat post for starters!!! I have also decided to stand on my pedals for the complete ride to stealth my acceleration. Anyway should be a good ride this morning, nasty Easterly so vest get the layers on.

There was some suffering out there today!
I got a nervous twitch every time we saw a 30 limit sign or slight crest ahead, for 3 hours 20 minutes it was sprinting for speed limit signs and accelerating hard over every slight gradient.
I have done loads of races that have been easier than that ride today!
I should add that there were a number of reasons I didn't win every sprint -
1. I had an aluminium bottle cage instead of the usual carbon version. Not only was this heavier, but it was occupying my mind so I couldn't focus on the ride properly. 2. When I got back I noticed that a very small section of my bar tape was protruding slightly, this would have significantly affected the airflow in the sprint. 3. I had a training tubular tyre on the front. This was 38 grammes heavier, it may as well have been a bag of potatoes it was slowing me down that much. 4. The buckle on my helmet wasn't very tight, see point 2. 5. Everybody else stopped for a wee. I didn't hence was carrying a lot more weight. 6. I was knackered and not that good at sprinting!

All excuses sound very reasonable to me,especially Number 6.
I, on the other hand had the excuse of not riding today because work got in the way. I did manage to go down to SSC to say hi to the three that were there, a new member, I think I remember his name being Mark, but not 100% sure (I'm terrible with names), and two others who's names I didn't get (I was too stupid to ask ).

I don't think I need to be dragged into this debate !!!! I rode very sensible today, and very courtious, letting everyone go past me in order to get their moment of glory !!! And as for Justin... new to the sport my arse !!! He has got some power.... beware all !! Great ride today, great banter, looking forward to the next battle... er.... I mean sensible ride !!

Well a truly EPIC ride today with the guys. I see Paul was first on the Forum to defend his form? Paul, if I had spent more time behind you on the sprint I would have pulled that loose tape off your bars for you haha. Marginal gains Paul concerning a stop for a No 1, that was a kilo less me and jack had to carry around. No names but PAUL words were 'I can't do this anymore'? I did say it myself and decided to just join in when someone was going for it. There was even sneak stealth tactics deployed but everyone was just too 'trigger happy' by then. I did try a sneak attack myself on Jack trying to bridge the gap but he saw me coming. Nearly fall off the bike laughing, wonder if no laughter while riding is in the Highway Code? We rode, we climbed, we sprinted and worked together as well. A great couple of days riding, I have really enjoyed my time in the saddle this weekend. Yes, a somewhat Virgin road rider to all this good banter on the road. Might even have to get me a nice set of those Carbon wheels, as that supermarket says 'every little helps'! As Paul said in a previous post 'you ain't see nothing yet'. Nice one again guys, can't wait till we get out again. Cheers

A banging 222 miles over the last 3 days thanks to the training rides with the club guys and a crazy Roller Session. But I got to get them in Paul, got to get my 'Sprint Win Ratio' up more so your are always looking over both shoulders for me at the same time! Have a good week chaps, we are living the dream!!! Well on weekends anyway

All these excuses! I think you'll find that eating cake will help you on the descents, ok . I'm working on how to do the uphill bits as cake just doesn't cut it on those.

So, what are the plans for this weekend and the southern section? Saturday or Sunday?
Fancy a ride, but aware that there are various sportives and events on, so thought I'd see what folks fancied doing.
