As there are now a few of us living in the south Worcestershire area (Worcester, Wychavon etc) who get together on a Saturday for a relatively fast couple of hours, I thought it was worth starting a thread here to organise the rides. Its the same general idea as the Saturday fast group that leaves from Stourport Sports Club.
The training rides average around 17 - 19mph depending on the route. We will search out climbs and undulating routes, a bit of friendly competition on some climbs and possibly a sprint or two for the 30 limit signs as the season gets closer! No cafe stop during the ride although we may find a cafe for cake and coffee at the end.
We will regroup at the top of a climb or after sprint, but not hang about for ages. Its a training ride, feel free to join us. Don't worry about getting dropped, come and join in. There is only one way to get faster...!
Everyone is welcome, check here for meeting places and times.

Hi Justin, to save me coming out to you then back along the way I came, shall we meet by the new flooring place (that used to be the old Bikers World) in Drakes Broughton. By the junction of the B4084 and Stonebow Road on the edge of Drakes Broughton. I have attached a map of where I am suggesting. We can then head out through Pershore, round Bredon Hill (up it if we feel like it!) then on to Tewkesbury, and back towards Littleworth. That will be a couple of hours. Anyone else is more than welcome to join us, we'll be there at 09:00. If any of the regulars want to come to my house first then we'll head through Drakes Broughton to meet Justin at 09:00, that's fine. Attachments:

We had a good couple of hours this morning including the Tarmac climb to the top of Bredon Hill.

Was a good couple of hours Paul. Thanks for taking me up the Tarmac road, really enjoyed that! but no pain, no gain. See you got out again today, I took Lucy out again on a 30 miler. Average 16.2mph, so her hard work is paying off. I will be ready for next Saturdays ride, same place and time? What horrors you got in store for us?

Yep, got out today up an excellent climb, Stanway Hill, into the Cotswolds. Really steady gradient, great surface, that climb will become a regular one for me!
I'll be out next Saturday morning, as long as the weather doesn't force me back onto the turbo.
May do the Lenches and Bidford loop, no major climbs on that one.
However on Sunday we could do a run out from Stourport up Clifton Bank. I'll put a note under Sunday Club Runs about that.

I'd be up for that, next weekend, unless racing.

I'll be out for a couple of hours in the morning if it's not raining, otherwise it's the turbo... again.
Weather looks like it could be hit and miss.
Anyone else around?

Yes I'm up for a ride as long as the weather holds out and my legs are ok. Went on a 'Roller Bender' session this evening, was aiming to try to do 3 hours solid but my butt could only take 2.5hrs but managed 75.11 at 30mph for the duration. Flagged a bit at the end though!!! What you got lined up for tomorrow weather permitting?

I thought about heading over the Lenches and doing the 'cloverleaf' of climbs.
It is a circular route that loops up and down all of the short climbs of the Lenches, about 2 hours total, no major ascents like Bredon or Malvern, only Hipton Hill is a bit of an animal, not long just a steep mid section.
I call it the cloverleaf because on a map the route looks like a messy cloverleaf (ish!)

Hopefully next week.

Good ride this morning! Plenty of suffering on the hills around the Lenches and a bit of sprinting towards the end... We also had some very good excuses lined up when the gradient picked up and the pace couldn't quite be held... I had a full water bottle and a heavier bottle cage than normal, so that was a very good reason for not getting away on every climb!
Justin tried the excuse of spending 2 1/2 hours on the rollers yesterday, but we agreed that as that was done by choice it wasn't a valid reason and was rejected as a valid excuse!
All good fun!

The extra dirt on the roads, that gets stuck to the frame, must also be taken into consideration this time of year
