Sunday 12th. 5 of us out on the 09.30 steady club run today. Stayed on good roads most of the time due to the early frost, went south to Ombersley, then Holt Fleet, Hallow, Worcester and Nigel left us there as we went into the lanes to Alfrick which was quite icy in places but ok with care . Joined the main road at Knightwick and came back to Laylocks for café stop and then home through Broadheath, Hallow, Holt and Shrawley. Ken B kindly accompanied me up Hurtle Hill and over Heightington to my place. Tired but a nice steady and sociable ride; hope to have another good one next Sunday, weather permitting.

Sunday 19th. Glorious sunny winters day with 8 of us out, 4 from WFCRC and 4 from SVV. We had a great ride together down to the café stop at Craycombe Farm, Fladbury 'though it was pretty wet on the roads after another night of rain. Kept the group steady and chatting all the way, which is always a good marker that the pace is right. Found the last bit coming home up Bewdley by pass and Long Bank a wee bit testing, but I had notched up a nice 70 miles by then. Will probably do the club run next week rather than the W St Johns RT as I am just in the winter 'getting base miles in' mode at present and doing a reliability trial at just sub race pace would be rushing things for me. The other thing to bear in mind is winter is yet to arrive! could be a nasty shock to the system when it does, so I'm not rushing things.

Is there a Sunday ride this week (28th)? Either from SSC or Southern Section?
I'm planning my rides and negotiations with 'the boss' around Christmas commitments and really fancy a group ride.
Oh, and Merry Christmas everyone!

I am not sure the Southern Division are around tomorrow. Justin is in France, I will be out, but I am not sure about timing and I need to be back by 11am latest as we are off to the pantomime...'he's behind you!!"... just getting in the mood.
The 09:30 from Stourport Sports Club looks the most likely.

Was that a 'club run' on Sunday, or a training bash? Unless we want to see support for our runs fall away can we at least make the outward part to the cafe a proper social pace. We can then split the group to come home if needs be, does that make sense peeps?

Maybe we could try two groups for the Sunday ride as we have previously?
I know that slower paced Sunday rides put a lot of people off coming along, myself included. Many of us are limited on bike riding time due to work etc and there aren't enough hours in the day for training. On the other hand I can see how a faster ride would put off those looking for a more 'traditional'(?) slower paced club run or are new to cycling and/or wfcrc and want to build fitness etc
Just a suggestion

I totally agree Jack, everybody has got to get something out of the ride. If we continue to get the numbers out like last Sunday (15 I think) then we could certainly accommodate 2 groups, with a meet at an arranged cafe stop.

We can then split the group to come home if needs be, does that make sense peeps? It's absolutely right, although it's difficult to please all the people all the time, the general SSC Sunday club run shouldn't be smashed to pieces on the way out, especially if there are new members out. As Jack and Shaun say, 2 runs is the ideal answer, it just needs people to post on the forum who is out. The forum is the perfect platform to let people know what's going on. Not everyone is on Facebook, Twitter etc but every single club member (and prospective new member) can view the forum whether they are registered here or not. Also if the Sunday club runs get organised on here it can be linked to Twitter, which automatically updates Facebook. Our membership is still growing and is at an all time high, we can should be able to rev plenty of members up to make two good runs up. We could even have a common cafe stop that we all aim for occasionally. There is a Sunday fast training run from the Southern division most weeks, we could do a loop and end up at the same cake stop. We can do loads of good stuff, we just need to shout about it more.

There are a few of us meeting at SSC in the morning at 9:30, no route decided yet but we plan on heading back to watch the last part of the Halesowen road race on the Astley curcuit at about midday.
